In the concept of life skills education as a necessity in rounding out the educational experience and preparing students to meet the challenges of living as well as academics.
Life skills development encompasses obtaining new academic knowledge but affording additional and practical platforms for problem-solving, critical thinking and analysis with a real to life application of the things taught in a traditional educational curriculum.
WHAT HAPPENED TO HOME ECONOMICS?
According to articles in the Huffington Post, Home Ec. has been seen as a regressive notion and has lost its support as an educational tool over the years. While we certainly have no desire to reinforce archaic stereotypes or gender roles, we believe that learning things like balancing a check book, creating a budget, making sound financial decisions to run an efficient household, and making informed decision about your health and eating habits are concepts essential to ALL of our students’ ability to function effectively in society.

A recent article by US World Report reported that students are studying up on calculus, advanced chemistry, and world history, but most aren't learning fundamental money lessons to help them financially navigate the real world.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE UNDER-PREPARED TO MANAGE FINANCES
According to a survey released in March by the nonprofit Council for Economic Education, only 13 states require high school students to take a personal-finance class to graduate. That is 37 states actively producing a generation of adults that are unprepared for a world with greater temptations, more debt and debt options, costly student loans, and a future where public benefits are in flux.
